The aim of the Vocal Strategy of Trafford Music Service is to raise the status of singing and increase opportunities for school children in Trafford to enjoy singing as part of their everyday lives. This is part of the Music Manifesto aim for singing to become an every day occurrence for young people of all ages in our schools.

To this end, we already have a Junior and Senior Youth Choir, both of which are open to all young people without audition. Vocal projects are running in many of our schools, with an ever increasing number of teachers becoming more confident in delivering singing with their own classes and within their own schools. Vocal work is also a vital part of our Wider Opportunities programme, with projects running in every Trafford primary school during the next academic year.

Training

For teachers lacking in confidence to deliver singing, or those who are keen to develop their skills, there are INSET courses running each term as part of Trafford's CPD programme. This year we are delighted to be working alongside the national singing organisation ‘Sing Up' with whom we have devised a series of courses for staff in Trafford schools. These are detailed alongside our other courses. For further information about Sing Up, visit their web site www.singup.org
